Senior Systems Support Administrator
Background
WebFaction is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to manage its
pool of servers. You will be helped by two other Systems Administrators
who will be under your direction. This position is open to anyone in the
UK since the candidate will be working from home.
WebFaction is a popular and fast-growing hosting company hosting over
20,000 websites. The company has built a reputation of reliable service
and outstanding customer support.
Role Definition:
The Systems Support Administrator is responsible for the company’s pool
of servers. This includes making sure that the servers are always secure
and running smoothly as well as constantly building and deploying new
tools requested by our customers. To achieve this you will be helped by
two other systems administrators who will be under your direction.
This is a high profile role within the company with a high degree of
responsibility. It requires a variety of skills including internal
communications, problem solving, methodical working practices and a
flexible practical approach.
Key Responsibilities:
Managing the company’s pool of servers:
. Network administration, management of firewalls
. Regular system monitoring and maintenance
. Administration of our web Linux hosts running Apache, Nginx,
MySQL, Postgresql and other application servers
. Administration or our mail Linux hosts running Postfix, Amavis,
Dovecot and Roundcube.
. Building and deploying RPMs using our internal yum repositories
. Managing our internal monitoring system using Nagios and Cacti
. Troubleshooting high load on servers using tools like ps, top,
iostat, etc.
. Managing our shared services such as our DNS servers, LDAP
servers, etc.
. Bash shell and python scripting
Required Skill Sets:
. Linux administration (CentOS)
. Security knowledge
. Shell and Python scripting
. Building RPMs and deploying them with yum
. Apache, Nginx, MySql and Postgres administration
. Postfix, Amavis and Dovecot administration
. Ability to manage two other Systems Administrators
