Hello

We are looking for a Linux Systems Administrator to join our systems 
team in the Dept. of Mathematical Sciences.

Previous Linux systems administration experience is required, as you 
will be part of a team managing a network of Linux servers and desktop 
PCs (mainly running a RHEL-equivalent distribution, with a minority of 
windows and mac users)

The role will involve, as part of a team:
- administration of all servers and desktop PCs in the school (e.g. 
installation/kickstart/upgrades/configuration/maintenance/troubleshooting/optimisation) 
- servers include zimbra email/firewall/file servers/vmware 
vsphere/web/backups/ldap/dns/CUPS/DHCP/etc..
- support and development of the school website (www.maths.qmul.ac.uk) 
and intranet running apache+Drupal CMS, and provision of other web 
applications and information systems. Therefore, php+mysql skills would 
be an advantage.
- provide technical support for members of the school (postgraduates , 
researchers, teaching staff), therefore, good technical and 
communication skills are required.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and capable linux 
systems administrator who desires to work in an mostly Linux and 
open-source environment.

This is a permanent and full time post offering a salary in the range 
£33,659 to £39,627 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits 
include 30 days annual leave plus 4 College closure days, final salary 
pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
