Senior Linux Systems Administrator (Ubuntu Server)
*The **Company*
My well established client based in South West London has a superb permanent
opening for a the right candidate. Located 10 minutes' walk away from a
major mainline train station making it easily commutable from a wide area,
and situated in modern offices with a friendly team of ~30 people.
Their current production environment is being migrated from CentOS 5.x to
Ubuntu Server. This exciting opportunity brings about the need to move the
company towards a more enterprise grade I.T approach, and the right
individual to make it happen.
*Required Skills*
-
Extensive knowledge and demonstrable use of Ubuntu Server.
-
KVM and surrounding utilities such as virsh, virt-manager, qemu-img,
qemu-kvm, etc.
-
Familiarity with systems management tools such as Landscape or similar
genre.
-
Linux networking, such as bonding, load balancing, bridging, firewall
configuration, etc.
-
Writing of detailed technical documents to be filed within the company
DMS.
-
Scripting abilities in BASH, Python.
-
Apache configuration and hardening.
-
Common service management such as OpenLDAP, BIND, etc.
-
MySQL server deployment, configuration and maintenance.
-
Development and deployment of backup & restore strategies using the likes
of Bacula.
-
Exposure to server hardware from HP & Dell and usage of DRAC & iLO.
-
Storage & File systems – iSCSI, NFS, CIFS, OCFS2, ext3 and ext4.
-
Previous usage of RHEL/CentOS and understanding of it's underlying
structure.

Fluency in the English language, both spoken and written.
-
Solid interpersonal skills.
-
Ability to work closely with and relate to the development, networking,
and management teams, likewise to work alone.

Delegation and management of juniors.
*Desired Skills*

PHP development experience.

Perl (Ability to understand or debug existing scripts. These are being
migrated to Python).

Networking & security policies.

Database administration and performance tuning.
*Beneficial Skills*

Microsoft Windows Server knowledge.

Exposure to Cisco, Fortigate, Infortrend, NetApp products.
