We are looking for a talented, driven Lead Project Engineer to join our team of open source masterminds at our central London office. As Lead Project Engineer you will be responsible for delivering a variety of projects including building the next generation of our architecture, proof of concept projects of new technologies and continual improvements to existing internal systems to enable our on-call team to maintain the highest levels of service availability to our customers.  Most of your work will be hands-on with other engineers assisting you but you will have responsibility for allocating tasks, helping plan the project roadmap and delivering on it.

Essential skills:

- At least 5 years commercial experience as a Linux systems administrator/team lead
- Proven ability to lead a team and take responsibility for issues
- Track record of designing, implementing and optimising operational systems
- Experience designing architecture for the whole system by choosing the right technologies
- Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent communication skills: Able to write reports, to present on available options and to influence others
- Experience administrating a three-tier architecture
- Experience of automating common sysadmin tasks
- Good understanding of networking technologies especially load balancing
- Experience of configuring automated monitoring systems


Background:

- Prior employment within a web hosting, internet service provider or software as a service company
- Prior involvement in design of systems
- Experience of working as part of a team
- Experience of working within a small company of around 200 employees or less
