Hi all,

My client in central London are urgently looking for an experienced engineer for a broad role that will involve aspects of software engineering, systems administration and DevOps.


The role:
The role will involve working as part of a small but exceptionally highly skilled team of engineers where you will play a key role in development and support of high performance Linux server infrastructure. This will involve using a range of languages such as C/C++, Python and Shell scripting. The role will involve working with a wide range of technologies from EC2 and distributed databases to automated build and performance test systems. There will also be opportunities to take on some leadership responsibilities although the emphasis will remain on the technical side. Although only two years old the company have experienced incredible growth and are now scaling and expanding internationally so there will be great prospects both from a technical and personal perspective.


Essential requirements:
* Exceptionally bright. Probably, but not necessarily, demonstrated by a strong academic background.
* Firm grasp of computer science fundamentals and the ability to quickly learn new concepts and technologies.
* Strong Linux skills, both from a development and systems administration perspective.
* Strong coding skills, ideally including C/C++, Python, Java or Shell scripting.


Desirable skills/experience:
* Able to demonstrate some experience in technical leadership or at least credible potential to move into such a role in the near future.
* Awareness of EC2, Cassandra, Hadoop, MongoDB or other distributed systems
* Awareness of automated build or automated performance testing systems
* Experience or interest in functional programming languages


This is a full-time permanent position based in central London (near Old Street). Salary is negotiable, plus share options.
