PHP Systems Developer - Reading or Edinburgh
Salary: c£26,000 to £32,000 per annum
Key Technologies: Object Orientated PHP5, HTML5, SQL (MySQL), CSS3,
JavaScript (jQuery, JSON), SVN
The Information Systems team develop web applications to make powering 8
data centres with capacity for over 30,000 servers as easy as possible. The
tools you develop enable us to support our customers quickly and easily.
Whether these are ticketing systems, monitoring platforms, integration with
new technologies such as VMware or storage systems or our customer facing
portals, they are used constantly throughout the business.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the lead on specific new information system projects
Continual improvement of existing systems to further support the
business (implementing bug and new feature requests)
Build proof of concept systems, translating the requirements into a
design
Provide system release support for the smooth transition from
development into the live environment
Provide guidance on use of tools and systems to other department
Identify and suggest improvements to existing tools, systems and
processes
Identify emerging technologies and understand how to best utilise
them for the business
Skills/Experience/ Education
You will need to be an experienced Object Orientated PHP Developer
Demonstrate practical knowledge and excellent problem solving skills
Be able to work on his/her own initiative
Have a strong desire to learn and apply new technologies and skills
Ideally a degree in computer science or a related discipline (or
other relevant commercial experience)
We would welcome seeing some code of previous work and projects. This may
constitute work from a commercial role or personal projects.
