Hi all,

I haven't posted to this list before, but I'm confident this advert will
be suitable. Any questions, you can get hold of me through the list or
preferably via the email address in the posting.

Thanks,

Luke

Very few organisations focus entirely on GNU/Linux and Free Software,
all the way from their desktop machines to complex computing clusters.
Would you be interested in a rare opportunity to work for one? Positive
Internet has positions available for sysadmins to join a lively team
providing support for a range of GNU/Linux systems.

Positive Internet owns and operates its own Data Centre in
Cambridgeshire with hundreds of servers (almost all running Debian). A
variety of systems are hosted and maintained, including HA setups and
clustered solutions. Many of these are fully managed by the Positive
technical team. In addition to working with some big and interesting
corporates, household names (Ricky Gervais and Stephen Fry), we host
none other than RMS and actively support various free software projects.

One position is for a network specialist, ideally with strong general
GNU/Linux administration skills, who will be responsible for maintaining
and developing our hosting network with PoPs in London, Manchester, New
York and Tulsa, OK. A proven understanding of BGP, STP, Cisco/Juniper
configuration, Layer 2/3 networking and obviously TCP/IP will be
essential for this role. If you've also got some experience with
open-source virtualisation that would be an additional bonus! It is
imagined that the position will be based in our central London offices
(off Carnaby St) working alongside our Technical Team Manager, though
there may be a possibility to work from the Cambridgeshire data centre.

We are also interested in hearing from any sysadmins (or wannabe
sysadmins) with a passion for GNU/Linux at anything from the junior to
mid-levels. Experience of setting up and maintaining web/database/mail
servers utilising technologies such as
Apache/MySQL/Postfix/Heartbeat(pacemaker)/DRBD/Xen/Perl/PHP would be
advantageous, as would a strong desire to develop your skills in these
areas, but we are also open to hearing from anyone who may only so far
have used GNU/Linux at home as a hobbyist. For these positions, it will
be possible for successful candidates to work in London or
Cambridgeshire. Salaries will depend on the role in question, the
experience of the candidate, the agreed shift patterns and location.

Positive engineers participate in our 24/7 call-out rota, once
fully-trained (with generous overtime and time off in lieu). Positive
gives a good holiday allowance (25 days + bank holidays + goodwill days
around Christmas/New Year), lots of training opportunities, funding to
attend free software conferences such as FOSDEM, company mobile phone
and the chance to work with some of the best free software experts in
the business.

These positions should interest anyone who wants to work with Linux in a
completely Windows-free zone. If you are interested please send an email
and CV to jobs at positive-internet.com.
