Duties and Responsibilities
---------------------------

The duties and responsibilities of this position described here are
representative of those an employee must perform.  This is not a
comprehensive list and other duties may be assigned, as needed.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
 - Support the activities of the information services department in
   accordance with organizational policies and goals.
 - Ensure proper functioning of company's information processing
   systems, including computers, telecommunications, and networking
   required to support Zipcar production environment and office
   operations.
 - Help business operations utilize information systems to improve
   efficiency and reduce costs.
 - Responsible for implementing and monitoring best practices
   processes, including security and data retention as required with
   PCI and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
 - Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation supporting Zipcar production
   environment.
 - Work in close concert with the engineering support to support our
   external member-facing systems, and to ensure proper integration
   where required with our internal systems.

Requirements & Qualifications
-----------------------------
To perform this job successfully, an individual should meet the
following minimum requirements and qualifications:
 - At least 5 years of system administration experience; you have deep
   understanding of the technologies you work with, and you can solve
   most problems independently.
 - You have supported 24/7 production environments with 99.99%
   availability requirements.
 - You are highly competent working with Linux (particularly Redhat
   and/or Debian distributions) and Windows / ActiveDirectory
   environments.
 - You have deep understanding of network protocols, from top to
   bottom: application protocols (HTTP, DHCP, DNS, SMTP), IPSEC and
   SSL VPN, TCP/IP stacks, Ethernet network building, management of
   external Internet services (ISPs, domain registrars, hosting
   providers).
 - Your solutions are simple, robust, and well documented.

Bonus points:
 - vSphere experience is a plus; VCP certification or possession of
   equivalent skills are a very large plus.
 - Experience with Cisco, Juniper and Fortigate firewalls and switches
   highly desirable.
 - Familiarity with database administration (Oracle and Microsoft SQL
   Server) a bonus
 - Experience with HP and Dell server hardware and EMC SAN equipment;
   comfortable with troubleshooting, maintenance, and system upgrades.
 - Operations support experience, including system monitoring and
   backups.
 - Comfortable writing scripts in shell and/or Perl.
 - Understand the importance of following best industry practices, but
   capable of thinking originally.
 - Strong interpersonal and communication skills, interacting with
   internal customers and external vendors.

Location: Wimbledon, London
Salary: negotiable, depending on experience
