      JOB DESCRIPTION

We have a vacancy for a Systems Engineer to join our growing 
Infrastructure team located in Bournemouth with a salary of £30,000 per 
annum plus weekly on call allowance and benefits including private 
health care.

The successful candidate will be responsible for both the maintenance 
and expansion of the infrastructure that is used in delivering storage 
and backup, as well as virtual and physical server services. You will 
make recommendations pertaining to the architecture and design of the 
storage and server infrastructure that supports systems products and 
services.

You will implement new infrastructure in order to grow environments or 
to add capabilities as is required, whilst carrying out monitoring and 
capacity planning to identify expansion needs and foresee potential 
problems. You will also maintain internal information systems used to 
deliver applications within the business.

The successful candidate will adopt a proactive approach in identifying 
training needs and ensuring that training is provided to other parts of 
the business about both new and existing product offerings.

You will also be required to participate as an escalation point in the 
out of hours rota in order to support the business delivery of services 
24/7/365 and you will receive an additional on call allowance for 
participating in this.


      ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  * Significant expertise configuring and administering Linux server
    environments
  * Significant experience with open-source virtualisation technologies,
    specifically KVM/QEMU
  * Familiarity using Dell PowerEdge server and blade (or equivalent)
    products
  * Familiarity using Dell EqualLogic storage (or equivalent) products
  * Experience in deploying Cloud infrastructure platforms (IaaS, PaaS)
  * Previous exposure to the colocation datacentre environment


      ADVANTAGEOUS SKILLS

  * VMware Certified Professional qualification
  * Knowledge of Voice over IP protocols and products
  * Knowledge of Windows Server environments
  * ITIL V3 Foundation
