My client a leading banking organisation is looking for a number of Technical Specialists / UNIX Systems Administrators to join their Project Delivery team.
The role of the UNIX Technical Specialist is to configure and implement Unix/Linux infrastructure from base OS Build to Go-Live of the Service.
Your responsibilities will include:
Configuration of Unix/Linux systems
Configuring other technology layers on systems using products such as Veritas Volume Manager and Veritas Cluster
Effectively engage with other infrastructure teams for the purpose of implementations
Ability to interpret and apply design documentation to project delivery
Appreciation of and ability to work within a change managed environment
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
*Relevant product knowledge including knowledge of Redhat 6; SLES 11; Solaris 10 (x86 and Sparc) and 11; Veritas Volume Manager and Cluster Server; Hardware (HP, IBM, Oracle x86 and Sparc); Virtualisation (VMWARE, SUN Containers, LDOMs); Storage (EMC/Hitachi SAN and NAS technologies);
*Experience working in relevant market/context, i.e. Financial Services Industry
*Past working experience in a relevant role, i.e. Unix/Linux Systems Administrator
*Availability to work the shift pattern required for this role, i.e. There will be out of hours work to support the Project Delivery process as well as Data-Centre Migration activities.
*Relevant product knowledge including knowledge of Networking principles ( TCP/IP, DNS/QIP; F5/GSS); Oracle RAC; BMC Control-M; BMC Patrol; Veritas Netbackup; Scripting (ideally Perl). is desirable but not essential
*A track record of constantly looking for ways to do things better and an excellent understanding of the mechanism necessary to successfully implement change
*Both spoken and written communication skills with experience of adapting your style and approach to the audience and message to be delivered
*A track record of making complex business decisions with authority, even in times of ambiguity, considering the potential long term risks and implications
*Experience of creating and deploying comprehensive business/operating plans which consistently deliver desired results
*Supported project teams/managers, showing an understanding of the basic principles of project management
*A comprehensive understanding of the regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements associated with financial services and experience of working within these.
The position will be based in the City of London with a fantastic bonus scheme of up to 40% being just one of the fantastic benefits.
