We are looking for a Linux Specialist to join the IT team at Kew. 

Hours of work: Full time
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary pA: £38,000 - £43,000 
depending on skills and experience
Directorate: Mid change from Corporate Services to IT
Location: Kew Gardens, Richmond 
Closing Date: 16/04/2017

The main focus of this role will be System Design, Installations &
System Builds. You will be responsible for taking personal ownership and
directing the IT Operations team in the delivery, monitoring and
managing of the day to day production environments in regard to your
skill area.

Your role will involve hardening, configuration and maintenance of
systems and services.

Working closely with the development team you'll be integral in
deploying new releases and products to the various Kew environments.
You'll also need to be an excellent technical communicator; able to
collate and present information clearly and succinctly, as you will be
responsible for diligently updating documentation and diagrams.

To be successful in the role, it is essential that you have proven
experience of working proactively with Linux operating systems, problem
solving and developing solutions with a strong background in Linux/Unix
administration, preferably CentOS, RHEL.

You'll also need to have a strong working knowledge of configuration
management using Puppet or an equivalent and profiling software using
Cobbler or an equivalent. Good knowledge of network infrastructure
architecture, configuration and trouble-shooting is also vital.
