Hi all,

I have a job vacancy in IT support based in West London but visiting
clients as well, if you guys know anyone who might be suitable and
interested. Since the last person I got came via GLLUG, I thought I
would give you guys first refusal. We look after quite a few Linux file
and email servers, as well as MS servers.

So, who am I looking for?

Main requirements:
1) Good with clients as they will be visiting clients at their site.
Also means good understandable English (and I mean that to cover people
born in the UK as well).
2) Good at troubleshooting - They need to be able to logically work from
one end of a problem to the other
3) Good under pressure - They will have clients looking over their
shoulder going "is it fixed yet? Do you know how much money I am
losing". Hopefully not often!
4) Technically competent, but not necessarily qualified.

Secondary requirements:
1) Eager to learn
2) Happy to work in a small business. No HR department, no purchasing
department. Very different to even a medium sized business. Very
liberating, but can be scary.
3) Manage own time schedule & book own appointments with clients.
4) Self motivating.

Optional requirements:
1) Driving license
2) Own car & happy to use to go to clients.
3) Happy to attend a weekly early morning breakfast meeting (BNI)
(Commission paid on any work obtained via these meetings)

Technically, these are the sort of things I need them to do, and the
more they can do on the list, the higher the starting salary:

1) Front line desktop support for PC - Windows XP, 7, Vista, 10 & MS Office
2) Remote support / telephone support for PC
3) Support for mobile devices (iPhone, Android)
4) Desktop support for MAC (OSX)
5) Specialist application knowledge, eg Adobe Creative Cloud, SAGE
Accounts, Autocad / Solid Works / VectorWorks.
6) Management of Active Directory sites
7) Management of MS server applications, eg MS Exchange / MS-SQL server
/ Terminal Server
8) Management of Linux servers (Ubuntu) & main applications (eg Samba /
Postfix / Cyrus)
9) Experience of installing and rolling out MS Servers
10) Experience of installing and rolling out Linux servers.
11) Experience of troubleshooting MS Servers
12) Experience of troubleshooting Linux Servers

So to get £24K I would be looking at around the first 5 items, around
£30K for the first 8 or 9 items.

This would be a really good opportunity for someone who was good but not
qualified, and was struggling to move up the ladder because of it, and
was really interested in IT in general, kept up to date, and wanted more
freedom in terms of what they did day to day.

Please get any interested parties to send their CV in ODF, TXT or PDF
format to office at supporting-role.co.uk.

Thanks,

Marco van Beek
