Well, it's debian based - always a good thing, uses newer software than
debian such as Gnome 2.8. It also pretty much detects and configures
all of your hardware.
But mostly it is just the little touches, they have spent a lot of time
making sure that things just work well together.
As a workstation OS it is very good. I'll stick with debian for my
servers, but if I ever have to reinstall any of my workstations they may
very well be ubuntu.
