[Liverpool] Debian

I know we've got some Debian users out there.  Thought I'd join you so I 
installed it today from a DVD set I got a few months back. (v3.0, though I 
have the upgrade 3.0r2 CD).  All went well, at first!

Everything seems to have installed and runs, except for X.  Whenever I start 
to run it, I get a whole series of error messages.  I've got an NVidia GForce 
4 card.  Tried the nv server - it failed.  I couldn't see how to try 
configuring just X, so went back to base-config and through it all again.  
Tried the svga driver.  It failed on colour depth (I'd chosen 24 bit).

Not sure I can face going all the way from the start again.  Is there any 
(fairly) straightforward way to bring in a server and configure it?
