Sounds like a BIOS issue, either of the motherboard or the graphics 
chipset.  You might try upgrading both those BIOSes, if there are 
updated versions.

It might be an idea to have a look around the motherboard BIOS options 
to see if there are any which could effect the display.  You could also 
try resetting the motherboard BIOS to clear any possibly offensive 
settings back to their default.
