Yeah, the update mechanism never used to work properly. Seems good in 
10.2 though.

I like urpmi with Mandrake: downloads all required dependancy rpms when 
trying to install an rpm package.
Mandrake's software repository is nice and large also.

I'll take a good look at Ubunto (Live CD downloading as I type)
