Guys
If you are setting up a LAN do you really need a router, and a separate file
server; cannot you combine them together?
Say have the ADSL modem connected as normal, a wired LAN card from the same
box, and connect it all up to a switch to connect the others up?
I can see problems with things like the server always being on, but
generally speaking it would be anyway, and the reliability of the host OS
running for extended periods and gradually eating up memory etc. And maybe
some security considerations too.
