[Malvern] That rotating cube.

When some of us went down to Message Labs recently we saw a demo of a
desktop
which used a rotating cube with separate windows on separate faces.
I guess this may be part of Gnome.

At the recent Malvern LUG meeting in the Great Malvern Hotel, our new
member from
West Africa showed us a version of Ubuntu running the same form of
display on his lap-top.

Please what does this rotating cube call itself, is is standard on
modern versions of Gnome,
and what are Members' views ? Rick - I think you use Gnome - do you use
this ?
Is this a major advance ? Originally it appeared to be mainly cosmetic,
but I guess is could
be useful. I have a choice between four desktops on the "kicker" bar at
the bottom of KDE.
It would be nice to compare them for convenience.

Although I am running KDE, I think some of the applications belong to
Gnome are very attractive -
Evince, Abiword, and Gnumeric to name just three.

Best regards,

Geoff.
