As far as I know, no pen is proof against marauding zebras. Few can even
stand against a placid zebra without some damage.
That said, for taking things abroad you just have to go with what you
are happy writing with and can afford to lose. I've no idea what you
style of pen you like; heavy, light, thick, thin etc so that has to be
your choice. Plus most fountain pens leak on aircraft so you might have
to take ink as well (as cartridges rather than potential binary liquid
explosive ingredients!!)
If you want an old piece of craftsmanship, try oldschoolpens (not far
from when I now live) or pendemonium. If you splash out on an old PFM I
*will* be jealous. :-)
I'm still very happy with my pilot capless (aka Vanishing Point), it
still raises eyebrows when folk see it for the first time and it writes
very well. Not as good as my 40y/o Sheaffer but not by much.
I hope many of you get to LUG radio live this weekend and have a
thoroughly great time. Shame I can't join you. I'd like to see Barbie's
talk. cough mumble video+slides cough ahem.
