Maybe a vote would be the most true-to-the-spirit way of deciding or distro of
recommendation?

Most KDE applications are completely scriptable through the DCOP IPC mechanism
from the command line or anywhere really, although that doesn't help a deal
with the GIMP, I'm afraid I don't know all that much about gtk related
things. We could probably magic something up at an X level, or ever perhaps
make a video capture of the output whilest someone fiddles around, I bet you
could do this using the frame buffer video device for X, and pointing it at a
file or pipe of some kind?
