[Nottingham] microsoft .net bus :OT

the microsoft .net bus was at ntu.ac.uk today. They're giving away
copies of win xp, visual studio.net and mssql server to engineering and
computing students + staff. not office though. I will collect mine
tomorrow.

The .net lecture they gave was the usual b.s. although the guy did use
vim (badly) and mention mono although not by name.  

AFAIK although the uni is mainly ms, students learn perl, c++, java and
php more than vb so who knows the impact that giving a proportion of
future IT professionals 'free' software will be. 

of course they all had cracked versions anyhow....

Perhaps future targeted talks by a suitably qualified person?
