There's a list of suggested printers for use with Linux at [1], and a
more complete database at [2]. I'll be amazed if you can buy a printer
these days that doesn't come with a CD of windows drivers :-)

Generally, the best bet seems to be to go with Epson's "Stylus" range,
and avoid brands like Canon and Lexmark. (IME, Lexmark printers are
fairly dire anyway; they break quickly, and the ink is even more
extortionately priced that that of other inkjet ranges, which is quite
an achievement.)
