Yeah - but this was to be on the very safe side. Had I not been able to
reboot into Windows at this stage I'd have been a bit stuck, and for a
'test stage' this was the easiest way of being very safe!

At the point at which everything was working (!), the packages on the
Mandrake 10.0.1 CD's were installed, and I'd also installed the package
downloaded from the Linuxant site for 2.6.3:
hcfpcimodem-1.01lnxt04062300full_k2.6.3_7mdk-1mdk.i586.rpm

Where?

(Actually, the whole modem thing may become irrelevant soon - the
NTLWorld 300k broadband looks a very likely option very soon. Still,
I'd want a workable backup connection: as we all know, your main net
connection only ever fails you when it's vital!)

An 'Addon' brand (whoever thought of that one didn't think of search
engines!) Wireless USB Lan Adapter. £20 or so from Maplin. Specifically
says on the box that it supports Linux, and it does - although all the
printed instructions with it refer to Windows.

Right. I'll start reading!

..And then read some more :-)

Thanks!!
