I've used helix on a Windows box to stream audio. I think the main problem
was that helix was limited to streaming 1M/s. If I remember it is set up
using a web interface on a high port.
I guess the linux version will be identical.
To stream speech over a modem link you just need to encode your speech at a
suitably low bit rate. I'm guessing this would be 4k/s less the bandwidth
for your html pages and images.

Hi there. Is anyone out there running Helix Universal server on a linux box?

We want to make some lectures available to students over the web, and at the
moment are being told the only way is to use Microsoft Producer, which is
undesirable for a number of reasons. We are keener on using as simple an
approach as possible, eg. HTML pages with real audio links (so the audio
starts within a few seconds of loading each page).

PS. If anyone has experience streaming speech using Ogg Vorbis for 56kbps
modem links, all the better!
