Sorry but the 'money' quote is just fabbo :

A BT spokesman played down the problem, insisting: "We haven't got major problems but we do have some network problems that are affecting a couple of thousand of our dial-up customers. 

Obviously if a problem only impacts 'a couple of thousand' customers, its not a problem. I'll try telling my bosses that and see what their reply is.
