I myself am running Debian Unstable (and boy, with the Gnome upgrade it 
is!) happily on a 900MHz iBook.  Brought it for the long battery life.  
Can be a problem for some that virtually no commercial software is on 
the platform but personally I just view it as keeping me on the straight 
and narrow. ;)
