[Nottingham] Knoppix install problem

Gentlemen,

I have been trying to install Knoppix on the hard
drive of my notebook computer and I get this message:

Error: Formatting of failed. Some messages from
mkfs.ext3: Usage: mkfs.ext3 [-c:-t:-l filename] [-b
block -size] [-fragment-size]
 [-i bytes-per-inode] [-J journal-options] [-N
number-of-inodes]

Does this mean the hard drive of the note book is
fubar?
Or is there a Jedi solution to his error message?
