Here's a cheating way....
make a backup of /etc/xorg.conf in ubuntu, then copy it over to the 
other distro's

you probably have a monitor which uses an uncommon refresh rate at higer 
frequencies.
the best way however, is to get oout your monitor instruction manual, 
and type the eact resolution and refresh rate into /etx/X11/xorg.conf  
(or if your not upto editing the file directly, use "xorgconfig")
