I had done it on my PPC G3 when hoary was still beta.
Smooth as a whistle, no problems at all although I only had packages 
installed from ubuntu's apt repo plus beagle and mono.
Unfortunately I've not tried it recently as my wireless card is 
unsupported in linux (just upgraded to a G4 iBook with goddam broadcom 
wireless card :()
