I'm running just the latest stuff for Mandriva 10LE. No beta Xorg or OO.

Since the spontaneous restart, I finished that bit of work ok, ran the 
backups, and all has been fine since.

So, don't know!

Perhaps a power glitch, a cosmic ray hit, or aliens poking fun or 
whatever...
