I think a certain amount of off-topic chat is good, as it helps to
promote the social cohesion which is important to a local user group.

The balance here feels right to me.

I am made uncomfortable by sudden criticism from infrequent
contributors whom, ipso facto, I feel I don't know.

Just my 2p.
