[Nottingham] Microsoft Publisher files convert

Folks,

I hope this isn't a rhetorical question..!

What utilities are there for converting old MS Publisher files to 
something a lot more useful that can then be edited? Anyone successfully 
done this? Or is this yet another Billie-boy entrapment?

A quick google suggests that there is only Adobe Pagemaker that can 
import the things. No other work-around?

I've inherited a few thousand of the things to convert :-(
