Wed 18th January 2006 - Talk and Demo
=====================================

Into Using Linux: The GUI and The Command Line
==============================================

This talk and hands-on demo is intended for all those new to Linux and
for "older noobies" alike and follows on from recent mailing list
discussions and examples.

Ever wondered what to do with the graphical desktop, or what is 'behind'
or 'underneath' it? And what of those strange 'terminal' things with
cryptic incantations in text? Well, this evening is NOT to explain all
about the intricate detailed working of such obscure arcanery. Instead,
how to make use of them and the other features available will be
introduced so that you can navigate through the Linux system and
filesystems with ease.

Audience heckling for favoured 'hints and tips' and any command-line
goodies are welcomed. What do you find useful?

(Those really interested can dive into the fun arcanery via a few beers
later in the evening!)

Doors open: 19:15 for 19:45 start at:

The Star Inn
22 Middle Street
Beeston
Nottingham
NG9 1FX
Tel: 0115 922 2234

Post-talk beers there: 21:00-ish

See: http://www.nottingham.lug.org.uk/
for further details. (Refresh your caches!)

All are welcome.

Cheers,
Martin
