I was saying: had to work with ProFTP quite a lot recently and found all the
necessary info here:

Especially:
http://www.castaglia.org/proftpd/contrib/ftpasswd.html (for automatic passwd
generation, etc)


Installed and configured on a Debian Sarge (stable) box and it was quite fun
to play with I admit!
Would my config file help you maybe? Let me know and I'll send it yo you.
