[Nottingham] Complete loss of keyboard for one user

Hi folks,

I've got a perplexing problem that I've got absolutely no idea how to 
solve.  I've suffered a complete loss of any keyboard input for the main 
user account (me!) in Kubuntu.  No keys work, even Ctrl+Alt+F1 etc.  If 
I switch to another user accout with the mouse the keyboard works fine 
in the other accounts, if I then switch to an old-style screen with 
Ctrl+alt+F1 and log in to my accout the keyboard works in the 
full-screen console (but not with a graphical console in KDE).  The 
keyboard works under windows.  AFAICT, something to do with X or KDE has 
disabled the keyboard for one account only, but I've got absolutely no 
idea what.  Any ideas?  I'm completely out of them :-(
