[Nottingham] Kernels 2.4 vs 2.6

OK Folks,

Just stumbled across the comment:

"The new stable release provides a choice between kernels 2.4.34.2 and
2.6.16.45 with built-in virtualisation support"

So why would "2.4" still be used rather than "2.6" other than for
historical systems?

Or is 2.4 still being worked on purely for historical reasons?

(Hope the Roebuck meet last night was good. I didn't manage to get
further than a sort of "post"-meet at the Beeston Last Post beer
festival... :-o )

Cheers,
Martin
