We were in the usual room upstairs!
Apologies to the two whom were put off... The bar maid was new and knew
nothing of Linux or of me despite watching us go upstairs! We got the
message later that two others had asked after us... She knows whom we
are now for next time.
And next time is the Purple session outside speakers... Keep watch for
further details!
Meanwhile, we had a good session demonstrating Beryl, Second Life and
Google Earth. Our respective recent holiday travels were reminisced.
There were various gripes about avahi doing silly things to an ethernet
interface that never normally gets used, and consequently slowing the
whole system down in doing it (network timeouts waits). Mention was also
made of Hurd and the new multi core CPUs from AMD ("Barcelona") and
Intel ("Penryn"). :-)
And I've recently discovered that you cannot boot an old iMac from a USB
device :-(
All good fun!
Simon: I guess we can meet up for Beeston Last Post beers sometime for
the hardware swap?
And the students are back next week?!
Cheers,
Martin
