Folks,

A real gem in the log from a 2.6.27 kernel:

kernel: INFO: task xxxx blocked for more than 120 seconds.
kernel: "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this
message.

The blocked processes appear to be then released and the tasks continue.
Woo-hoo! In earlier kernels, the system would suffer with those parts
locked out until a reboot.

Now for the /really/ interesting question... Anyone able to decrypt what
happened?

I'm using "tar c | tar d" to compare 200 GBytes of data between a
firewire external HDD and a USB2 externel HDD, both using reiserfs.

I noticed that the drives had stopped transferring data for a few
minutes. Then they started up again.

Anyone?

Worth chasing to put in a bug report?

Cheers,
Martin
