[Nottingham] Converting mp3 to ogg

I used DBPowerAmp to convert entire trees of mp3 to pcm wav (it's a
win32 binary but runs extremely well in WINE), then the same app to
encode to ogg. It's an extra step, but it's only two hits of the "GO"
button and you may find that you suffer very little loss in initial
quality (dependent on source bitrate and desired bitrate). This also
takes a huge amount of space: a 5MB mp3 at 256kbps (translating to
just under two and a half minutes of audio) will result in a 25MB pcm
wav file. 500GB of mp3 could conceivably require 5TB (source average:
128kbps) of temporary space for the process.

A minor caveat though: for some reason some of my audio ended up
mispitched by upwards of 15%. Made my Audrey Gallagher collection
sound like Norman Bates doing karaoke. Turned Barry White into the
Smurf World Party.

Actually, that didn't sound too bad.
