I just finished cloning a Knoppix/Debian partition from a 1.9 P4m
machine to a 500MHz PIII laptop. Everything works (I thought I'd have
to reconfigure the xserver from the original NVidia setup to Neomagic
but nope - it just worked!). The PIII is no racehorse (more like a
charging slug) but the battery lasts for ages. The APM daemon reported
4 hours remaining once the system had booted(!). The next trick is
finding out how long the unit lasts in the hands of a six year old...
On saying that, I've now got a very fast method of Linuxising pretty
much any x86 machine that gets thrown at me.
