Hi,
   The next CovLUG technical meeting is Tuesday 20th October 2009.

== Topic ==
Synopsis by our guest speaker, Adrian Shaw, a computer forensics expert
with the Police:
I will take a high level view of the use of Linux in computer forensics.
The presentation will be free-form allowing the audience to decide which
areas they want to know more about. I will talk about the challenges
faced by people working in the computer forensics field and the
potential for Linux Live disks to cope with those problems. I will also
be demonstrating a number of open source tools that are useful for not
only computer forensics but also data recovery. I will show people how
to recover lost partitions on Linux and Windows boxes as well as files
that have been deleted but still exist on the disk. I will also discuss
some strategies for dealing with hard disks that have mechanical
problems (strategies that don't involve freezing or boiling the hard
disk!). There will be a question and answer session at the end of the talk.

== Arrangements ==
Our technical evenings are split in to two parts:
* Firstly, we invite everyone along to a friendly, relaxed meal at Pizza
Hut in Coventry City Centre starting at 7:00PM. Everyone is welcome to
join us, but you don't have to come along to the meal to attend the
talk/demo later on. You are welcome to attend even if you don't want to
eat - several people come along and just have coffee or drinks and join
in on the chatting.

   These meals are usually a great place to get advice and help with
problems or to ask any questions you may have. They are completely
informal and a wide variety of subjects (not limited to Linux and Open
Source) are discuseed.

* The second half of the evening is our talk/demo and takes place in a
large private function room at a friendly bar/club in Coventry City
Centre.
   The "formal" part of the evening begins at 9:00PM, and is expected to
last an hour and a half (two hours if we run on a little bit!). Please
try to arrive 10 minutes early so that we can begin at 9:00PM.

   The venue has free onsite parking for people visiting the club, and
does not mind people parking there whilst they join us for food (as long
as you then return to the club later on, obviously!). The club is
approx 5 minutes walk from Pizza Hut.
