A more general trick (from Duncan F) is to prefix your worrisome command
with a "#" to render it neutered until you've coolly reflected upon
whether you /really do want to do that/ to then unleash your grand
intent with a <home> <del> <return> key sequence:

<home> takes you back to the start of the commandline;
<del> deletes the "#";
<return> makes it so.
