uvc stuff is part of the kernel and so should be common to all recent
distros:

I have a Bresser "USB Microscope Digital". It is flawlessly working here on
gentoo with 2.6.39-gentoo-r1, uvcvideo and guvcvideo - even the snapshot
button on the microscope is useable.
