[Nottingham] Networking MTU/MSS silliness...

Folks,

Something that I thought had been lost to the dim distant past... That
of having to manually set the MSS for a network link because somewhere
along the line, ICMP data packets are lost/dumped... :-(

All very confusing when some data packets get through and then some
quietly get lost without trace...

Hence here's one for the Misc list:

MTU – MSS – Kernel Compile and Networking Gem

http://nottingham.lug.org.uk/2012/08/mtu-mss-kernel-compile-and-networking-gem/3487

One question is: What is the smallest MTU/MSS anyone has suffered for
their internet connection?

Any strange numbers to be aware of for mobile GSM/3G/whatever links?

What's the MTU/MSS for a link to the ISS? ;-)

Cheers,
Martin
