More yes than no I think; and it's not just mainframes, web apps have
being doing this "cloud" crap for a while too.  "Whoops, site is slow;
better add another node." etc

But should we care?  One of the "no" aspects is that the kit and tech
used is largely commodity/open, you don't need to fill the garage with
with expensive, custom kit.

Instances of OwnCloud, SatusNet and Friendica (there are others),
perhaps shared with friends, should give enough cloudyness for people to
easily share pictures of cats from their chosen device.  Only thing
missing is some kind of office suite, but I think Libre/OpenOffice are
working on that.  All this could either be on your own kit, or something
rented; and you could move between the two with relative ease.  Sounds
pretty good to me.

Wasn't a personal cloud one thing the "FreedomBox" was promising?
