Hi there ..... My Advent Touch printer failed after less than four
months. I took it back to PC-World who offered a repair. I made a
complaint because I have had many problems with the printer - the print
head failure was the last straw. The person who took the complaint
handled it extremely well, and has arrange a full refund of the purchase
price - and told me to collect the repaired printer and dispose of it as
I wish.
So - anyone want it? It works OK with Linux once you know how to do
it. It comes with two black ink cartridges but no colour and the colour
ran out while I was trying in vain to clean the head. It is the same
model as the Kodak A10 all in one printer.
The reasons I don't want it. It takes ages to start up. It is very
slow. It is very heavy on ink. It locks up unaccountably at intervals
and I have to pull the plug to reset it. One particularly annoying
'feature' is that I often want to print kid's colouring pages - and many
of these download as US Letter size PDFs. The printer refuses to print
them showing a 'wrong paper size' error.
The scanner is excellent!
Any takers in spite of this? Collect only .... or meet me at a pub
somewhere and buy me a pint?
Kind regards, Barry Drake.
