[Nottingham] Could not update .ICEauthority file

Thanks to those of you who made suggestions.

For reasons I don't understand the permissions on my home directory where
changed from 755 to 555 so a simple chmod 755 /home/me fixed it but I have
no idea how it got wrong in the first place.

Any ideas what could have caused this?
