That's not exactly the point. You're soliciting gpg key signatures so
presumably you care about the web of trust. If that is the case then you
surely want everyone you're asking to sign your new key to be confident
that it is actually you who is making the request. Providing a signed
document (and cross signing keys) as in the link I sent goes some way to
doing this.
