[Nottingham] [Maillist] 'Munging' the "From" mail headers on this list?

That is set on whatever mail client (or webmail system) you use.

Recipients then see a "From" address which in this case is the
"nottingham" lug maillist, and then also a "Reply-To" address that is
whatever you have set on your sending system. Default for most clients
is to firstly reply to the "Reply-To" address (and only to use the
"From" address when "Reply-To" is not listed).

*My** first four thoughts are:

Good to make the email address harvesting for spammers a little more
difficult;

Bad in that the anonymity removes peer pressure to avoid trolling;

Good in that we can have (partial) anonymity for whatever possibility
but bad in that we get closed down if Edward Snowden joins our list;

We all lose the option to filter maillist postings by "From" address.



And then there is the lazy way of not bothering and drifting along with
whatever defaults are set for us. (Freedom needs exercising to keep
practised!)
