[Nottingham] Voice Recording

Hi folks

I want to record my voice through a microphone onto my linux PC. Whilst
recording I want to be able to pause from time to time.

All I've been able to find so far is arecord (which I can't pause) and
audio-recorder which doesn't seem to build properly under Arch Linux. Has
anyone got any other suggestions, whether command line or GUI to record
myself?
